Great Commission

Great CommandmentOur Mission

Grace Fellowship is here to fulfill God’s desire : To save the lost (The Great Commission – Matthew 28:19,20) and lead people into a personal, intimate relationship with the Living God (The Great Commandment – Matthew 22:37 ). This is an important mission because you are important to God. He has a purpose for your life. He wants to speak to you and He wants you to know Him and live His ways. Therefore, we encourage you to be involved in what God is doing, to make God’s Word a priority in your life and take your Christian life seriously. This is how we come to really know and experience God’s blessing. There is no greater fulfillment in life than knowing and partnering with God Himself. Classes, studies and more are provided to help you grow in your knowledge of the Bible and we provide many great opportunities for those who would like to serve.

A Church For Now

The is no greater strength than the established Truth of God’s Word. Our unyielding commitment to the Bible is what has given Grace Fellowship Church the solid foundation it continues to have to this day. While trends come and go and the world becomes increasingly unstable, God and His Word remain the same. The preaching and teaching is practical and relevant to our lives today. The believer is continually challenged to know the Word for themselves, to work through real life issues with God, to grow spiritually and to find victory in every area of their lives.  At Grace Fellowship, you will learn how you can stand in God’s power so even though the world is shaken….You will not be.

Grace Fellowship Church was founded in 1987 through the ministry of Pastors Jim and Sharon Wood. After several years of serving in various Christian ministries including the Billy Graham Crusade, Yokefellows and beginning a home bible study that outgrew the space – Jim and Sharon Wood sold their home in rural western Connecticut and followed the call of God upon their heart to a small apartment in the city of New Haven. God honored their commitment to His Word, their relentless outreach, street preaching, much prayer and personal evangelism. They began to see fruit from their labor and opened a small church in a community building. As people continued to come and experience God’s mercy and grace, Pastor Wood and his wife realized that many of the people they were reaching happened to be from the city of Meriden. After much prayer and consideration, the Woods decided to move to Meriden to open a church they would call Grace Fellowship Church.

From the very beginning Grace Fellowship Church was built upon two pillars of the New Testament: The Great Commission and the The Great Commandment. Pastor Jim has committed himself to the saving of souls through evangelism and the teaching of people to love God personally and have a real, honest relationship with Him. It is only through this relationship of the heart, and not church attendance alone, that God can work His destiny in and through a person’s life. The result will be a Christian able to reach others, teaching them how to walk in relationship with the Lord.
